Multi-award winning building and roofing specialist, Hodgson Sayers, has pushed forward with its plans for expansion outside of the North East, with contracts in excess of £1 million during 2017 in the Midlands.
Having successfully secured a place on the Efficiency East Midlands Framework, Hodgson Sayers is deploying up to 15 staff on a variety of roofing projects in Leicester, Rugby, Northampton and Nottingham.
The Stanley-based company, which employs over 100 staff, has seen considerable growth in recent years and has been listed for the third successive year in Ward Hadaway’s Fastest 50 growing companies in the North East.
John Sayers, managing director, Hodgson Sayers, which was crowned national Business of the Year in the British Chamber of Commerce Awards 2015, said: “After much research, we identified the Midlands as a logical next step for the business and by winning a place on the EEM framework, we have gained a consistent level of work. At the same time, we are also building contacts and relationships across the Midlands, which we hope will result in other opportunities.
“We have a team dedicated to the Midlands and if this high level of activity continues, the option of having a permanent base will certainly develop early in 2018. While the North East is our heartland and the focus of so much of our activity, we are ambitious and realise that expansion outside of our traditional market, is a natural next step. A big incentive for us to expand and grow outside of the region is that it will potentially lead to more jobs being created at our Stanley base.”
Hodgson Sayers is embracing new technology as part of its expansion plans and is integrating Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software into its systems and processes.
The company is renowned for offering high quality jobs to young people in the North East. This year it has welcomed six new apprentices to its team, with a total of 25 apprentices in the company learning the skills of slating and tiling or flat roofing. They are supported and encouraged by managers across the business, the vast majority of whom were apprentices themselves and they are all guaranteed jobs on completion of their training.
