Dragon breathes fire into Easter activities at Jarrow Hall and Anglo Saxon Farm

Children across South Tyneside can expect a very ‘hot’ reception at Jarrow Hall and Anglo Saxon Farm this Easter, as a fire-breathing dragon leads them on a giant egg hunt.

Community and family activities will run throughout the bumper holiday period and the friendly dragon is ‘blazing’ the egg hunt trail.

He has hidden dragon-size eggs in a range of locations and promises some yummy Easter goodies to anyone who finds out where they all are.

A sociable fellow, who greets everyone with a very ‘warm’ welcome, the dragon will also be making an appearance at Jarrow shopping centre in the run-up to Easter.

Jarrow Hall has much to offer, including the opportunity to get interactive with the animals on the rare breed farm and see the Anglo Saxon village come to life. There will also be complementary crafts and activities throughout the school holidays both on the farm and inside the museum.

Visitors living in central Jarrow are encouraged to check out the Big Local Jarrow Hall Pass. By paying for entry once, they can make as many return trips as they wish for a full year. This is subject to evidence of their postcode area being produced. For further information on the pass visit https://www.jarrowhall.org.uk/jarrow-hall-launches-new-pass-for-local-residents/

Rebecca Maw, operations manager – Communities for Groundwork South and North Tyneside, which runs the site, said: “Easter is the time of year when we all have an extra spring in our step as it really does signal the end of winter. Here at Jarrow Hall we are raring to go. This is going to be a big year for us as our aim is to make Jarrow Hall a very special amenity for the community.

“Not only is it a fantastic location and steeped in history, it is also a place for fun with the family and we have activities to suit a wide range of interests. Our Easter programme is just the beginning of a new era of engagement with the community and we are looking forward to greeting both new and old friends throughout the year.”
